In the Fall of 2014 I was asked to become part of the, 'Black Diamonds Havana Band', a 10-piece, mainly 1920s/1930s style dance orchestra with; 3 saxes, 3 brass, rhythm section and vocalist. Drawing on influences such as the Savoy Havana Band, and American bands such as those including Bix Beiderbecke, Red Nichols, Miff Mole, Adrian Rollini as soloists, Duke Ellington, and many others. and more recently, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra
It is a real joy to play with these guys. All experienced musos, with many years playing behind them, (and hopefully in front of them too)!
Sometimes I'm just on Vocals. Others on Banjo/Guitar too, and occassionally Bass.
Whatever is needed........it's great fun!
The present and most common line-up is as follows;
3 Saxes, 2 Alto & 1 Tenor, (All doubling Clarinet).
2 Trumpets
Trombone
Tuba (Sometimes 2), (It's nice to be different)!
Banjo/Guitar
Drums
Female vocalist
Male Vocalist /MC
