FLY ON THE WALL - Track by track

ACT 1

 

01    SOLILOQUY    (Jimmy)
    Opening number. Jimmy relating the reasons He thinks He is being incarcerated.

 

02    ALWAYS TOMORROW    (Shelley)
    Shelley trying to understand Jimmy. Mainly the reasons why He seems to sideline personal things She wants and needs, whilst prioritising work.

 

03    YOU NEVER    (Jimmy)
    Jimmy’s reply.

 

04    JIMMY/SHELLEY    (Jimmy & Shelley)
    Shelley confronts Jimmy after a heated argument. Jimmy agrees that He’s not good for Her and     decides to leave, but Shelley wants him to stay and try to work things out.

 

05    BRIGHT YOUNG REP    (Rupert Wülf & Jimmy)
    Rupert Wülf is the Editor of the Mag both Jimmy and Shelley work for. He needs someone to go with his head reporter, June, to get the lowdown on Bobby Haze, (an ageing rock star who has been out of the scene for some years), who is making a comeback, and performing a one-off show for the press at the  ‘Palais Des Pôles’. A nightclub in the centre of town.  He cajoles Jimmy into doing the assignment. Much to the annoyance of Shelley.

 

06    MEDIA SONG    (Manager, Bobby Haze & others)
    Bobby Haze’s manager, (The ‘Manipulator’) tries to get him to get his act together for his ‘comeback’     show. Bobby feels He’s not ready, but He’s up for having a go.

 

07    GET OUT OF HERE    (Manipulator, Jimmy, Shelley & others)
    Getting straight to the point. The Manipulator, (in a different character), tells Jimmy & Shelley that they     need to get away from the Mag to be successful in life and work.

 

08    JUNE’S TUNE - THE DRIVE    (June, Jimmy, & others)
    June tells Jimmy she’ll pick him up as she is driving to the Gig. During the conversation June flirts with     Jimmy and has a bit of a personal fantasy scene. The Orchestral bit!
    
09    THIRSTY THURSDAY    (Manipulator, Hazettes)
    Background music. Manipulator, as yet another character, the MC/DJ, lets everyone know what the   night is about. A sort of Info-Rap! The Hazettes are Bobby Haze’s backing singers. Who are singing,      “Thirsty Thursday” repeatedly,. Just in case anyone doesn’t know?

 

10    BOBBY HAZE SHOW (BH BOOGIE)    (Bobby Haze & the Hazettes)
    BH struts on as if he’s never been away. He has changed a bit tho. No flowing blonde locks and no     natural tan. He is singing, but there is a ‘Ghost-Track’ in case he forgets the words. Which He does. An  argument ensues between BH and His manager during the Sax Solo section. The Hazettes and band members ham it up a bit towards the end.

 

11    CROONIN’ AROUND   (Bobby Haze & The Hazettes)
    Bobby Haze at his most sleazy and cheesy. A slow funk where he gets a random girl up from the    audience and dances with Her. All the time trying to get her back to his dressing room after the show.

 

12    LEAVING -THE FALL    (Jimmy & others)
    At the after show Jimmy decides to go home earlier and leaves June to Her own devices. A bit drunk, He wanders out the building and down the drive. He stops to look back at the lights and other nonsense happening all around. Suddenly he notices a silhouette of a body perched on a window cill. He shouts up to the person on the ledge just as it jumps, or is pushed, and lands in a pool of blood on the ground. Jimmy rushes bier and is joined by others. One of whom hands Jimmy a knife. Saying, “take this”. Then shouting out that was Jimmy was the assailant. Jimmy realises his situation and shouts out Shelley’s name.
